WILLIAMS shipping, the Southampton-based marine services group, has signed a joint-venture agreement with The Milford Docks Company to develop new business in South Wales.
A new company called Williams Marine and Port Services, will be based in Pembroke Port and provide a range of marine services to shipping and terminal operators in the Milford Haven waterway and throughout South Wales. A range of workboat, tug, ship supply and services will be provided to the expanding shipping activity in Milford Haven, Wales' largest port, and provide a base for expansion throughout South Wales.
Colin Williams said: "We are delighted that we have reached an agreement which helps secure the future of our two businesses in a very competitive and fast moving market."
The Southampton office of solicitors Bond Pearce handled the joint venture agreement on behalf of Williams Shipping. Stephen Pierce, head of corporate finance, said: "This deal creates a new force in the UK's port services industry and means the company is ideally placed to develop the growing South Wales market."
