Eastleigh boss Paul Doswell described last night's rollercoaster 3-3 Ryman Premier draw with Hampton as "a manager's nightmare."
Not only did his side trail 3-1 with less than half an hour to go, but they suffered a catalogue of injuries.
New strike signing Andy Forbes retired at half-time with the recurrence of a calf problem and Ryan Ashford was carried off with ankle ligament damage.
But the worst damage of all was sustained by ex-Saint Christer Warren, whose shin was so badly gashed you could see the bone.
Doswell said: "It was probably a great game for the fans because they went through all the emotions, but it was horrible for a manager.
"To score three goals at home and not win is not good enough and we've got some terrible injuries."
Having been rocked by two early goals, Eastleigh hit back with a Paul Sales header only to be caught out again early in the second half.
Sales again reduced the deficit and was then shoved in the back for the penalty equaliser which Martin Thomas converted.
Doswell said: "All three of their goals were set-pieces and we defended abysmally. I'm glad we fought back for a point but we made it incredibly hard for ourselves."
