BROCKENHURST were a team in a hurry on Saturday as they notched up a 3-0 opening day win over Christchurch at Grigg Lane.

Three first-half goals inside 25 minutes did the trick for the Badgers leaving their player/manager Graham Kemp a happy man after day one of the new season.

"We played very well in the first half to get to 3-0 and we created the better chances in the second half despite Christchurch probably having the greater possession," said Kemp.

Brock took the lead on 15 minutes, Dave Midgley knocked the ball over the top for striker Jason Lovell to beat the Christchurch keeper in a one-on-one.

Paul White side-footed home from six yards for their second goal ten minutes later before Marc Isaacson powered in a Nick Kemp free-kick to complete the scoring after 40 minutes.

There was no shortage of incident or controversy at Hamble ASSC where visitors Andover eventually ran out 4-2 victors.

Yet things had looked bleak for the Lions - who lost this corresponding fixture 1-0 last season - when they trailed 2-0 to two Craig Rickman strikes after 30 minutes.

Danny Sullivan reduced the deficit before half-time but the turning point came after 62 minutes when Hamble keeper Nick O'Donnell was sent off for bringing down Sullivan in the penalty area.

Matt Styles converted the spot-kick and, just ten minutes later, Styles himself was then brought down by the stand-in keeper and Bobby Swain swept Andover 3-2 ahead from the resultant penalty.

Mark Keogh sealed the points for Andover with a simple tap-in in the final minute.

Andover secretary Chris Jeremy said: "We didn't play particularly well today but we've managed to come away with the three points.

Lymington & New Milton keeper Kevin Scriven saved a twice-taken penalty at AFC Newbury but still couldn't prevent his team from slipping to a 3-1 defeat to the Berkshire side.

Newbury's Lee Chudy netted with his first attempt but the referee ordered a re-take as Scriven was still having a drink of water and Scriven then promptly saved Chudy's second effort.

Earlier, Ashley Vine had headed Newbury into a 14th minute lead but that was soon cancelled out by a Darren Curtis free-kick for the Linnets.

David Asker's flicked header gave Newbury the lead on the hour mark and Chudy got his revenge on Scriven two minutes from time when he netted a third.

Bemerton boss Steve Slade admitted that his side were "a little fortuitous" to beat Totton 2-1 at Western Way.

"It was nip and tuck and we were a little fortuitous to get all three points."

Stuart Findlay fired Harlequins ahead after just two minutes but Totton were back on terms within three minutes as Marc Osman found the net with a solo effort.

Findlay grabbed the home side's winner on 20 minutes with both Findlay and Osman battering the woodwork later in the game.

Bemerton's Wiltshire rivals Downton didn't enjoy the same good fortune at Bournemouth Poppies were they twice led through Matt Guy only for a double blow by Fawzi Saadi and Paul Cuelietta to give the home side a narrow 3-2 verdict.
