PLANNING matters: Firstly, the application to demolish the garage in The Street and erect seven new houses has been withdrawn by the applicant.

The doctors' surgery is held in abeyance until a slot can be arranged in the full planning meeting of the council.

According to the council this is such a controversial matter with many objectors and submissions as to why it should or shouldn't be in Milkingpen Lane. A date is yet to be arranged.

Mrs Donaldson's bungalow at Redbridge is now razed to the ground and there is a portable building on site ready for the contractors to start their work.

NEIGHBOURHOOD Watch: Last week, I mentioned our Neighbourhood Watch scheme in the village.

As a follow-up to this, there are four schemes that are struggling at the moment. They are at Cowslip Bank, Apple Way, Rosehip Walk and Chaldon Green.

These four areas are all set up with signs and stickers and all that is required to operate the scheme. All that is needed is someone to be involved for not more than a couple of hours a month.

It is a case of receiving information from the police about things happening in the village, then in turn popping a note through the doors of your neighbours.

There is a meeting every quarter, which takes about an hour. If you are interested, call 333338.
