CONGRATULATIONS: Must go to all of the winners and indeed the participants in the 2004 Village Show.

The standard of entries for all classes was very high and the beautiful weather ensured a good turnout on the day with everyone enjoying the various side stalls, craft demonstrations and the bouncy castle.

Full results of the winners will be posted in the September Link magazine.

NEIGHBOURHOOD Watch: With a large number of people about to set off on summer holidays, don't forget to let your Neighbourhood Watch co-ordinator know that you are away.

This allows the scheme to run far more effectively and increases awareness among your neighbours of when your home is likely to be empty.

VET'S: The village vet has reduced the hours that it is open. Surgery in the village is now only available on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 7pm until 8.15pm.

Please be considerate when parking at the vet's surgery at these times.

The surgery is based in a residential area and inconsiderate parking not only causes problems for residents but also for the buses that use Hill Road as part of their main route.

It was only last week that the police had to be called to deal with vehicles that were causing an obstruction and thus preventing the buses from getting through.

Please contact the vet in Overton on 771918 for surgery times outside of this.

CONFIRMED: It's finally been confirmed, Oakley has been named in The Daily Telegraph as the Happiest Place to Live in the UK with the best quality of life.

I'm sure most of us knew this anyway, but let's keep up the good work and hope that we can win it again next year.

ONCE again: Please contact me on 780897 with any news items or e-mail Traceybowsh@aol.com
