SOUTHAMPTON Dolphins finished second in the Isle of Wight Sprint Gala.

Every swimmer from the Shirley-based club achieved at least one pb, with only one exceeding the maximum time and receiving a speeding certificate.

Grace Mwakisunga, 10, slashed seven seconds off her previous pbs in breaststroke and freestyle, winning the 50m sprint in 37.56 seconds.

Collectively the Dolphins finished 157 seconds faster than they had ever swum before to claim eight individual golds.

Georgia Richards, 10, won the butterfly (19.37s) and the 50m breaststroke (51.08s).

Adam Mousssa won the boys' 25m fly in 21.48, while younger sister Sophie, 9, swimming in her first gala, won the girls' backstroke.

Jasna Wall triumphed in the butterfly event for nine-year-olds.

Simon Campbell became the fastest Southampton 10-year-old boy with his winning time of 40.21s, while the ever-improving Lauren Davison, 10, won the 25m butterfly in 20.03s.

Sixteen silver medals were claimed by Shirley swimmers in record times.

Junior boys' captain Phillip Manning led by example in the breaststroke and freestyle (36.7s).

Phillip Thompson was second in the 12 years boys' freestyle and backstroke (34.73s and 41.48s).

Joshua Smith, 10, was unlucky not to win the 50m breaststroke in 50.01 as was Aisleen Renshaw in the 12 years butterfly (41.92s).

Ten-year-old Josephine Wilkin (48.84s, 50m back) shaved huge chunks from her pbs, as did Chiara Wall (43.25,50m back) Jade Osborne (37.37, 50m free) Rebecca Campbell (36.77, 50m free) and younger brother Martin Campbell (24.97, 25m Brst).
