MARK STONE and Alan Whitman produced stunning individual bowling performances to sweep Sparsholt and St Cross Symondians into the Winchester & District CA's Tichborne Trophy final at the Norman Edwards Ground.

Stone snapped up five wickets in seven balls to seal Sparsholt's 40-run semi-final win at Fair Oak, while Whitman took a hat-trick as St Cross nailed Hursley Park in the other semi-final.

Mark Stone, who experienced a nightmare Premier League debut for Sparsholt against Alton last Saturday, finished with 6-13 as Fair Oak were bundled out for 63 at Lapstone Park.

Dave Embury (24) and Paul Malone gave Fair Oak a decent base from which to challenge Sparsholt's 103-6.

But, coming on as first change, Stone blasted through Fair Oak's middle and lower order to sink the previously undefeated Hampshire League challengers.

Carl Nicholls, with an unbeaten 44 which included two massive sixes, and James Schofield (39) rallied after Sparsholt had made an indifferent start.

Whitman's bowling heroics clinched a 79-run win for St Cross Symondians over Hursley Park at the Royal Green Jackets ground.

Graham Barrett's 79 not out, aided by Jack Lovett (48) and Phil Nevin (39), guided St Cross to a towering 169-3.

But only Ollie Green (35) made any impression as Whitman took 5-7, including a hat-trick, to bowl out Hursley Park for 90.
