Sir.-I wish to sing the praises of Basingstoke's 100 youngsters, in co-operation with Planet Ice and the Basingstoke Ice Skating Club.
They skated their socks off in their Christmas ice show.
Their effort and enthusiasm provided the enjoyment mirrored on the faces of the audience, young and old. It was a joy to behold.
Basingstoke should be very proud of them. What a cracker!
Praise also is due to the mums and dads who gave up so much time to get the kids to the ice rink, sometimes before dawn as ice time was restricted, and, of course, to the behind-the-scenes people who worked tirelessly to make the show happen.
I wonder how many of these skaters will go on to greater things? Well done. I wish them a successful future.
