Romsey schoolboy Joshua Hartley has left the isolation ward he has been in since receiving his life-saving bone marrow transplant.

The 12-year-old had the vital transplant from his mum Allison four weeks ago - and it is now been declared a complete success.

Joshua has been treated at London's Great Ormond Street Hospital. It is hoped he will be allowed home later next month.

Allison, 36, of Winchester Road, Romsey, said: "It is fantastic news. Joshua is getting stronger every day."

Joshua is the oldest of four brothers with rare Duncan's Disease, one of the world's most unusual genetic disorders.

Bone marrow donors are still needed for Nathan, 10, and four-year-old Luke.
