NEW MILTON'S Danny Goode is planning to follow in the footsteps of British boxing great Nigel Benn.

The 24-year-old turned professional this week after a successful amateur career with the Lawrence Club and is already aiming for the top.

Goode, pictured, is an all-action fighter who pours forward like Benn and as a middleweight, he is modelling himself on the famous Dark Destroyer.

Benn won the Commonwealth and WBO world middleweight titles before stepping up to take the WBC super-middleweight title in a richly successful career which will always be remembered for the battles with Chris Eubank.

"I am very ambitious," said Goode. "I want to go to the top and I model myself on fighters like Nigel Benn and Scott Harrison who come forward and really fight."

Goode has been boxing since the age of 15 and will be managed, trained and promoted by Mark Roe, whose stable of fighters includes heavyweight Julius Francis.

It means that Goode's training will be based in Kent and he is hoping to secure his first professional fight within the next few months.
