THREE passengers aboard a crashed boat in the Solent Approaches were rescued by lifeboat crews on Saturday.

The trio aboard Foudroyant, two of them thought to be children, issued a distress call after a collision with Sea Walker off Hurst Castle in the Solent Approaches.

Both boats were escorted back to Yarmouth by lifeboat crews after a rescue involving the Coastguard helicopter on Saturday.

Solent Coastguard launched a rescue operation the same day after receiving a call for help from a Sealine motor cruiser on fire west of the Needles.
