Ian is bidding for England honours

Making his bid to join the U21 England selection squad is 17-year-old Peter Symonds' College student Ian Roberts.

Ian has been playing hockey for England for the past two years and has lately been a member of the U18 squad which won the European Championships in Eindhoven.

He has also played hockey at the college and helped them on their way to victory in the National Cup for the second year in a row.

"I love to play hockey and this season has been a real success all round," says Ian.

"At college we won every cup going including the Hampshire U19 Cup and the mixed Sixth Form & Tertiary National Cup. To celebrate the end of the season we had a fantastic lunch and certificates and I'd like to thank Paula Harding for organising this."

Ian, who is about to take his A-levels, wants to go on to Exeter University in September to study Sports Science. As far as hockey is concerned he aims to be part of the England U21 Junior World Cup squad in 2005.
