BRAMSHAW are off the mark at last in the Hampshire League - after conceding a mere 1,252 runs in six fielding sessions!

Their broken-hearted bowlers at last had something to celebrate after Bramshaw, who had twice been on the receiving end of 300-plus totals in their four previous matches, beat Waterlooville by eight wickets to score their first County Division 1 win.

Ironically, Bramshaw went into the match without their three main bowlers - but Mark Pratt (5-66) and Tim Rogers (3-37) managed to bowl the Ville out for 226 (Martin Shephard 66).

Bramshaw wasted no time in celebrating their long-overdue victory - left-hander Adam Hart cracking an unbeaten 119 and sharing century stands with Adam Ridgeway (41) and George Gray (35 not out).

The victory lifted Bramshaw off the bottom and left winless Burridge II anchored to the basement after a 169-run mauling from newly promoted Fair Oak, who lie one point off the top.

South African Morne van Rooyen lashed 116 not out and shared hefty partnerships with Mark Thorne (85) and Bruce Cooper (41) as Fair Oak notched 318-3 before bowling Burridge out for 149.

Leaders Andover II successfully chased Calmore Sports' 248-9 to win by thee wickets at Loperwood Park - having been in the mire at 117-5 at one stage.

Paul Funnell (40) and Ian Gardner (37) did some spadework, but it was Rob Oostendorp's unbeaten 45 and a blistering 36 off 15 balls by Simon Mundy which won the day for Andover.

Martin Cheyney, with an unbeaten 106, and Gary Chalkley (84 not out) swept Tichborne Park to an eight-wicket win at Bath Lane - after Tim Dix (69) had helped Fareham & Crofton post a handy 261.

Old Tauntonians & Romsey sank to a surprise three-wicket defeat after being dismissed for 212 by lowly United Services, whose win was assured by Andy Galliers (69) and John Milne (62).

Stuart Shapland produced a dazzling one-man show, taking 7-41 and hitting an unbeaten 58 in an unbroken century stand with Richard Manthorpe (62), to ease Flamingo to an eight-wicket win over Eastleigh & Otterbourne.

Alan Whitman stole the show in St Cross Symondians' eight-wicket hiding of Sarisbury Athletic (173), returning figures of 5-36 before striking 77 not out.

Tim Stokes scored an unbeaten 102 and was well supported by the patient Jon Richardson (82) as Locks Heath celebrated an eight-wicket win over big-hitting Lymington (228-6).

Langley Manor just held on in a near 550-run thriller at Redlynch & Hale, who finished two runs short at 273 all out after the visitors had posted a daunting 275, Jon Wilkinson cracking 66 off 33 balls.
