BUSY Bees summer fete: At the Scout Hut, Strokins Road, tomorrow, from 2pm to 4pm.

Friends of Kingsclere School summer fete: At the school on Saturday, June 26, from 2pm to 4pm.

We are promised a large choice of new events and activities, and the grand summer raffle will be drawn on the day.

The Friends welcome any donations of prizes for the raffle.

Please call the school on 298583 during working hours if you have anything to offer.

GARDENING club outing: To West Silchester Hall on Thursday, June 24, departing Kingsclere at 6.30pm. Call Sylvia Pennington on 298880.

COFFEE morning: In aid of St Michael's Hospice, at the Village Club, tomorrow, from 10am to noon.

STABLES open day: On Sunday, from 10am to 12.30pm.

Ian Balding will be signing copies of his new book, Making the Running, and there will be plenty of opportunity to see the racehorses and the training facilities.

VILLAGE Plan: There were lots of entries in time to enter the prize draw and they are still coming in.

The children from the primary school certainly had lots of ideas and the organisers hope for many more yet.

So if you haven't yet decided what "they" should be doing something about, then there is still time to fill in a form and return it to the parish office.

TRAFFIC: People have been asking about roadworks.

The proposed "imprint" to be installed at the George and Horn junction to try to slow traffic entering George Street is scheduled to be done this month.

I am sure everyone will also be pleased to hear that the B3051 from the bypass to Knowl Hill will be resurfaced this year.
