GUILDFORD'S Mill Studio is continuing its drive to bring unusual, outrageous and acclaimed theatre to the city.

In a short, but powerful, summer season this year, it is also presenting its annual free art exhibition, courtesy of Guildford Arts.

An "extraordinary one man show", written by Nobel Prize winner Dario Fo, brings the age-old art of the storyteller to vivid life in Mistero Buffo on Thursday and Friday, June 24 and 25.

Antonio Venturino (pictured) brings to life a huge army of bizarre characters in a variety of stories such as The Wedding at Cana and Zanni's Dreams.

Performing in a mixture of English, Italian, Sicilian dialect and gobbledegook, and with a virtuoso style, Venturino combines Fo's text with his own contemporary sketches mimicking anything from politics to EastEnders!

A workshop based on the show takes place on June 24.

An intelligent, caring, creative wife - or a real person forced to fit into society's model? To My Man on Thursday, July 1, and Friday, July 2, is the story of Felicia, recently widowed and lonely.

To assuage her loneliness she begins to write a diary as a form of conversation to her dead husband.

But during her work she finds out unknown aspects of her relationship with him, their children and granddaughter that she had never suspected.

More than 150 works of art, in a range of styles from paintings to sculpture, are on view in the Mill Studio's annual free exhibition, Yvonne Arnaud Art 2004, which runs from Thursday, July 15 to Thursday, July 29.

Nationally-recognised artists plus talented local painters and sculptors will mingle in the exhibition, which is a Guildford Festival Event and is presented by Guildford Arts and sponsored by Baker Tilly.

The box office at the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre is open from 10am to 8pm, Monday to Saturday. Call 01483 440000.
