SOUTHAMPTON'S Andy Morgan-Lee continued his dominance of this summer's local road race events with victory in the Poole 10K.

On a blisteringly hot day on the south coast, roadside temperatures soared to 28 degrees, so this was never going to be a fast race. In fact the Red Cross were working overtime treating dozens of dehydration cases among the 1,000-strong field.

Morgan-Lee, the Bitterne based Salford Harrier, kept his cool to make all the early running alongside Wells City Harriers' Carl Morris, eventually pulling away to win in 31 minutes and five seconds.

Morris was second with Bournemouth AC veteran Mark Hargreaves third.

Morgan-Lee's Southampton Running Club training partner Iain Robertson followed him home in 11th place (34.06), spearheading SRC to third team spot behind Bournemouth AC and Poole AC. Not to be outdone by the men, SRC's women also grabbed third team place to cap a highly successful day for the club.

Kaye Harwood led the assault in fourth spot in 38.07, behind Bristol international Amy Stiles (34.40).
