HE might have retired two seasons ago, but Matt Le Tissier is still the undisputed star of Saints' Premiership history.

Le God, right, remains the only man to have fired 100 Premiership goals for the club, though James Beattie is only two good seasons away from emulating his three-figure feat.

Beattie rifled 14 top flight goals in 2003/04 to put him well clear in second place in the list of men with most Premiership goals for Saints to their name. Though it does say something about how few regular marksmen the club have had that Kevin Phillips is already in the top 11 after only just one season as a Saints first-teamer.

Phillips is level with Jo Tessem, the Norwegian who was a regular starter under Dave Jones and Glenn Hoddle but who has been out of favour since Gordon Strachan took over and is currently on loan to Lyn of Oslo.

The Daily Echo publishes the current list of Premiership clubs and their top five goalscorers since the start of 1992/93 - the season the brave new world of top flight English football was created.
