A FRESH lead in the Hannah Foster murder inquiry has emerged after an anonymous letter was sent to the Daily Echo.

Since Hannah's murder 14 months ago detectives in Southampton have been left playing the waiting game after their prime suspect, Maninder Pal Singh Kohli, fled the country to India.

But now they have a new lead in the form of the letter, which claims Kohli had an accomplice to help him out of Britain and who he again met up with after he arrived in his homeland.

The typed letter was posted from New Delhi in India and describes how Kohli was helped and who by.

Southampton detectives have been relying on their Indian counterparts to apprehend Kohli, who has been on the run since he was identified as the chief suspect in the murder of 17-year-old Hannah.

Leading the investigation, Det Supt Alan Betts confirmed detectives would be following up the claims made in the letter.
