EASTER Day began in Silchester with a Sunrise Service starting at 6am outside the church.

Twenty people took part in a short service to bring light into the church.

At 10am there was a full church and chairs had to be put out to make room for everybody.

The children joined in the service and were rewarded with Easter eggs as they left for home.

OPEN garden at the Old House, Bramley Road on Sunday from 2pm to 6pm. Tea will be served in aid of church funds.

MACMILLAN nurses: Come along and support the nurses at St Paul's Church, Tadley tomorrow from 7.30pm, when Tadley Concert Brass will entertain.

AUCTION: On Saturday, April 24, from 10am, with viewing from 9am.

Goods should be brought in on Friday from 6.30pm.

The new system of paddles will be used for the first time and it is hoped to speed up the selling.

There is a 10 per cent buyers and sellers premium. Refreshments will be on sale.

Come along and get a bargain and have an entertaining morning out.

PHOENIX Club was shown how to make a hanging basket by Chrissie from White Tower Nurseries, Aldermaston and a planter was raffled. Many new varieties of plants were described and available for sale.

Names for the proposed trip in May were submitted, but it does appear as I go to press that we may not have enough names to make the coach worthwhile, but we live in hope. Money will be returned if this is not possible.
