PHONE mast update number one: As reported recently, local campaigner Simon Preedy has been having discussions with mobile phone operator T-Mobile about its need for a 3G, 11-metre mast in Cliddesden Lane.

As he has heard nothing recently from T-Mobile, he has contacted it again to find out if it has begun the necessary pre-application consultations with residents.

He has also asked it to state when it expects to submit a planning application to the borough council.

HATCH Warren spring clean: This annual event will take place on Saturday, May 8. Litter pickers should gather at the community centre at 10am.

MEMBERS' event: The Community Association will be holding the first of its promised members-only events on Friday, June 4, at the community centre.

This will be a family disco, with music by our own Mark Halliday. Entrance, strictly members only, will be free.

Further details from the community office on 811262.

GARDENING by design: The nearby Walled Garden at Down Grange will be holding a wildlife gardening course, starting next Thursday at 6.30pm.

Called "Step up to Wildlife Garden Design", it is free and will run for five weeks until May 20, covering topics such as creating wildlife habitats, identifying wild flowers and creating a plan of your garden.

The aim of the course is also to brush-up on maths and English skills at the same time. For further details, please contact Heather Kinnersley on 417517.

PHONE mast update number two: Phone operator O2 is looking for an additional site for a mast in the Brighton Hill South area. It is also looking to upgrade the existing site in Hatch Warren.

If anyone would like more details on the potential new site or the upgrade, there is an event planned that will be open to the public.

O2 will be holding a drop-in session at the Wellington Room at the Red Lion Hotel in the town centre, on Wednesday, April 28, from 4pm until 8pm. There is also a helpline - 0113 3886788.
