GOOD news: For those many residents who have already expressed concern about the application to extend the Chineham Arms and have not yet heard, the application has been withdrawn.

This does not mean that the proposals have been totally abandoned, but at least it allows a breather!

VILLAGE Design Statement: Maybe you've heard about it, maybe you haven't (although it has been mentioned in this column and in numerous other places).

Whatever the case may be, it is something all residents should consider.

The borough council, via the parish council, is wanting input from residents about what's missing in Chineham and what needs improving.

It's your chance to have a say and influence how our area develops.

Please pass on your thoughts, either by post to Chineham Parish Council, PO Box 6275, Basingstoke, RG22 4WJ, e-mail clerk@chineham.gov.uk or telephone 474500.

SPECIAL guest: Actor, writer and performer Peter Searles will be performing one of his internationally-renowned one-man shows of often hilarious, sometimes poignant, travellers tales at Chineham Library on Wednesday, April 28, at 7.30pm.

Members of the audience can expect to be taken on an attention-grabbing journey through Peru.

Tickets cost £3, including refreshments. For further details, contact Caroline Stelling at Basingstoke Library on 363793.
