THE Burning Bush promise a magical journey into nostalgia, hope and joy when they perform at the Turner Sims this weekend.
Singer and BBC broadcaster Lucie Skeaping leads the show, which combines mystical ballads of the Jewish ghetto, foot-tapping klezmer and exotic Arab-influenced dance music.
The Burning Bush cover a wide variety of music from the old Jewish world, and their interpretations reflect the musical language of the countries where Jewish communities settled over the centuries.
The group, who have performed to packed houses at major festivals and cultural events throughout the UK and abroad, recently toured around Germany, Finland and South America.
Their performance on Sunday is set to cross cultural boundaries as exuberance, defiance, celebration and ribald wit all come together in a world of music where Europe, Africa and the Orient freely mingle.
April 4, Turner Simms Concert Hall, Southampton. Performance: 3pm. Tickets: £12. Box office: 023 8059 515.
