Green cleared to play in Vase final

GARY GREEN will, after all, be available to play for Winchester City in the final of the FA Vase on May 16th.

The veteran midfielder has been handed a 35-day suspension for using foul and abusive language towards the referee during the first leg of the semi-final at Bideford.

Green was sent off for the offence, but the dates of the ban will not include the big match at St Andrew's.

That's because the game is being played beyond the date of the official end of the season.

The suspension is likely to be split in two, with two weeks to be served until May 7th and the remaining three weeks from the start of next season.

City's director of football, David Malone, said: "It's good news for us as Gary is such an influential member of the team."

Tickets go on sale

City have received an allocation of 5,000 tickets for the final and these will go on general sale shortly.

They'll be available from the Hampshire Chronicle offices from next Monday (5th) at £15, £10 and £3 (concessions).

The City Supporters Club is arranging coach travel to Birmingham at £12.50 per head.

Anyone interested in going should contact Lyn or Terry Bone on 01962 624130.
