BROCKENHURST are ready to take powerful centre-forward Aaron Turner off Lymington & New Milton's hands.

The 22-year-old Salisbury loan man has lost his place at Fawcett's Field to new signing Michael Jackson and former Linnets boss Graham Kemp has wasted no time lodging notice of approach to get Turner to Grigg Lane.

According to Kemp, the former Wimborne and Dorchester targetman will fit in nicely with his happy band of footballing waifs and strays.

He said: "All the people I've signed for Brock have come here with something to prove and that's worked really well for us. I'm hoping Aaron will show both Salisbury and Lymington that they shouldn't have let him go.

"I know he's had problems getting to training, but I'm happy if he plays on a Saturday and a Tuesday. It doesn't matter about Thursday training.

"What I like about Aaron is that he's not interested in money, he just wants to play football."

Brock - home to BAT tomorrow - also plan to sign Poole Town and Winchester City goalkeeper Neil Potter as cover for former Hampshire wicketkeeper Iain Brunnschweiler. Second-choice 'keeper Scott Jacobs is injured.

BAT have kept themselves busy this week with 5-1 and 2-1 friendly wins over RS Basingstoke (Andy Chance 2, Danny Gaines, Dave Roberts and Dave Marden) and Fleet Town (Paul Beasley, Richard Gregory).

Manager Andy Leader said: "We've played fewer games than anyone in the league and it's disappointing they couldn't find us a fixture last Saturday.

"We're still at the wrong end of the table, but we've not lost in the league since November 8 and, if we can get a run of games under our belts, it's still in our hands to finish top ten."

Young striker Gregory is back from a knee injury, but the experienced Dave Lewis (knee) is still struggling and talented left-sided midfielder Paul West has been out with rib problems ever since the FA Vase game at AFC Wimbledon.

West and young goalkeeper Gareth Barfoot played so well that day that Leader cannot believe the Dons have not inquired about them.

He admitted: "I'm very surprised. I felt we had the best two players on the pitch. Westy's got pace to burn and absolutely terrorised them in the first half and Gareth had probably the best game he's ever had for us."

West, picked up from Bashley Reserves, has been replaced in the side by local lad Danny Gaines, who has flitted between BAT and Totton.

"Danny came back to us before Christmas and he's come in and done an excellent job," said Leader.

Although Robbie Clark, Luke Gogan and Tony Marney are now approaching full fitness, the Tobaccomen are to lose Paul Masters, Lewis, Paul Hodder and Darren Osman to February suspensions.

Leader remains unfazed however, saying: "We've got an excellent squad now and can cope better when people are out. Once Simon Elliott and Lloyd Jenvey return from their world travels next season, we'll be kicking."
