A SECOND woman has contacted police after apparently having her drink spiked during a night out in Southampton city centre.

Detectives are already investigating after a 28-year-old woman woke up in a strange house after suddenly feeling unwell at the Rhino Club in Waterloo Terrace on Friday evening.

As reported in yesterday's Daily Echo, the victim suffered a ten-hour memory blank and had no idea how she came to end up in a property in the Upper Shirley area.

Police are still awaiting the results of blood tests which should help determine whether or not her drink had been spiked.

Now a second woman has come forward to say she suffered a similar experience while out in Southampton, also on Friday evening.

Det Insp Nigel Oliver, head of Bitterne CID, told the Daily Echo: "We have had a call from another woman who has come forward as a direct result of the media coverage.

"It appears she too was out in Southampton on Friday evening and suddenly felt unwell in similar circumstances."

Police were waiting to speak to the woman yesterday to obtain further details and to investigate whether or not the two incidents could be linked.

Meanwhile, detectives renewed an appeal for three young women who went to the aid of the first victim to come forward.

Police believe the women took pity on the victim after seeing her wandering around aimlessly and talking incoherently.

The trio took her home and kept her safe before one gave her a lift to a bus stop in Hill Lane at about 11.20am on Saturday.

Detectives said there was no evidence to suggest the victim had been subjected to any sexual assault.

The latest incident is the sixth report of women having drugs slipped into their drinks at pubs and clubs in Southampton in recent months.
