CHRISTMAS tree lights: The recent switching on of the tree lights went very well, with Concorde Captain Adrian Thompson doing the honours.

An estimated 400 people attended and were entertained by Tadley Band with churches around Tadley leading the singing.

In the Ambrose Allen Centre, various charity stalls raised money for good causes and the luncheon club sold hot potatoes and hot drinks.

Sir George Young and his wife joined in the evening's festivities. The lights were donated by the local chamber of trade.

I think anyone who enters Franklin Avenue from Newchurch Road will notice the tree all lit up. I would like to thank everyone who helped in any way with organising this event - either by giving, volunteering, or anything else.

ANOTHER big thank you: Tadley and District British Legion raised £7,836 in the recent Poppy Appeal, which, when you consider that their biggest collection point was Budgens and this year they had to make do without it, was a wonderful achievement.

The organisers would like to thank everyone.

CHRISTMAS Fayre: The recent Burnham Copse PTA Christmas fayre raised an amazing £1,200.

LIBRARY news: On December 17, at 10.15am, it's story time. Father Christmas is taking time out of his busy schedule to read the story.
