PARISH council: Further news from the November meeting.

The parish clerk reports: "Repairs are to be made to the edging of the pathway around Jubilee Pond, damaged during reed clearance.

"Road traffic calming installations are now under way.

"Tennis courts have been cleaned and will be repainted in the spring. From April, court fees will increase to £2.50 for adults and £2 for juniors.

"The next meeting is on Tuesday."

CHRISTMAS is coming: The carol singers will be in the village during the week before Christmas. If you would like them to sing at your house or call in to entertain you and your friends, please contact Sue Hobbs on 882002.

HOSPICE: Don't forget Ken's raffle in aid of St Michael's Hospice. Tickets are now on sale for some terrific prizes.

Also, there is a ladies night at Sherfield Oaks golf course on Tuesday, December 9.

FATHER Christmas: Santa will be making his annual visit to Sherfield on Wednesday, December 10, when the Loddon Valley Lions' Christmas float comes to the village.

It leaves the post office area at around 6.30pm.

VILLAGE hall: The management committee held its annual general meeting recently.

The chairman thanked Jan and Alan for their tremendous hard work over the year.

The committee was elected with one or two changes. Aubrey Bridges and Natalie Larner join the committee and George Rymer has resigned.

The minutes from the last AGM were agreed, matters arising discussed and the financial statement read out. Major projects to be undertaken include resurfacing of the car park and refurbishment of the kitchen.
