TWO TOTALLY Tennis players represented Hampshire in the recent senior county cup held in Bristol.

Tanya Hasking, who is 17, and Sammie Moreton, 15, teamed up with seven other players to fight for promotion to the third division.

On the first day, playing against East of Scotland, Hampshire scored a magnificent 7-2 win with a clean sweep of the doubles matches - including a 6-1, 6-2 victory for the Moreton-Hasking partnership.

On the second day, Hampshire were pitched against Kent, with Moreton and Hasking winning one doubles and a singles between them.

Overall, the county team scored a second convincing win, this time with a 6-3 scoreline.

Again they won all the doubles.

The pressure was on for the final day against Nottinghamshire, who also had two overall wins under their belts.

After close singles competitions, the two counties were drawing 3-3, with everything riding on the doubles.

The Hampshire team managed to win two of the three doubles to win the senior county cup fourth division and earn promotion.

Hasking, who has represented Hampshire in the county cup a whopping 11 times since she first played for the under-13s, said of the win: "Our number four player had to go home sick after the first day and so we were surprised to have done so well with one player down.

"Hopefully, we will work our way up to the second division next time."
