Southampton Saints scraped through to the fourth round of the Women's FA Cup by the skin of their teeth yesterday.
The high-flying FA Women's Premier League Southern Division outfit needed extra-time to get past a determined Coventry City side 3-2 away from home.
Cassie Thorp, Kelly Baker and Gemma Woodford found the target for Saints and manager Sue Lopez reported: "Coventry gave us a hard game. They had a lot of spectators up there and had sent someone down beforehand to watch us. They took it very seriously."
Saints' second string beat Chelsea 4-1 in the FAWP Reserve League thanks to hat-trick heroine Nicky Watts and Fiona Trimmer.
