ANOTHER crafts entrepreneur has made the decision to open a workshop at the new Fairground Craft & Design Centre in Weyhill, where Sir George Young will officially launch Julie Hayward's JH Design today.

After leaving art college, Julie spent many years working for leading interior designers in London where she gained a wealth of invaluable experience including a thorough training in the art of decorative paint effects and faux finishes. During this time she worked on such high profile projects as the provision of lighting for the Dorchester Hotel and also commissions for Prince Andrew's household.

Several years on and having moved to the Andover area, Julie set up JH Design Decorative Arts, since when, as she says, "We've decorated just about everything, including murals on walls, faux tiles on floors, pianos, ceilings, fire surrounds, curtains and lamps to name but a very few."

Her move to the fairground will enable Julie to fulfil an ambition to pass on these techniques to others, with a series of workshops providing courses ranging from basic painting and drawing skills through to how to completely transform an old bit of furniture into a highly prized piece.
