MEMBERS of Test Valley Borough Council's executive committee have confirmed their wholehearted support for the borough's community plan.

Your Test Valley - A community plan for the future, which is an action plan for improvement in the borough, has been formally endorsed by councillors.

It includes information on the current situation in Test Valley, the results of a residents survey and aims and objectives for making the borough a better place to live.

It lists eight key priorities of building a safe community, which is clean and attractive and meets transport needs.

The community will value education and lifelong learning, encourage healthy lifestyles, have a thriving local economy, strong local communities and know how to enjoy itself.

The plan is a slightly amended version of the one originally circulated in June following comments received throughout the consultation process.

Changes to the introduction section include clearer references to the invaluable contribution made by voluntary organisations, the need to recognise diversity and be aware of equality issues, the wealth of supporting detail to be found in other plans and strategies, which the community plan can only attempt to summarise and the need to work with adjoining authorities and agencies on issues that cross through boundaries.

The idea of the community plan is to promote and improve the economic, social and environmental well-being of the area.

The Test Valley Partnership was established in April 2002 to improve partnership working within the borough and to produce a community plan to improve quality of life in Test Valley.

All partner agencies and organisations have been asked to sign an endorsement form to confirm their support for the plan and its aims and objectives.
