THE superb Innovations Jazz Orchestra is performing at the William Penney Hall, AWE Aldermaston, on Saturday at 7.30pm.

Proceeds from the concert will go to two charities - the Stillbirth and Neonatal Death Society and the Alzheimer's Society.

IJO was formed in 2000 by six enthusiasts, and has since grown to a full-sized band of about 25 local musicians who rehearse each week in Tadley.

The music they perform is a mixture of big band, swing and jazz classics, including those of Glenn Miller, Count Basie, Stan Kenton, Frank Sinatra and Herbie Hancock.

There is the familiar rhythm section, along with trumpet, trombone and saxophone sections, but an additional enhan-cement of four flutes, together with the sweet tones of musical director Simon Ward.

Tickets are £5 for adults and £3 for children and are available from Modern Music in Basingstoke, the IJO ticket line on 01256 843799 or via the website www.innovations-jazz-orchestra.co.uk
