SOUTHAMPTON students were offered a tasty incentive to give blood.
A voucher for a delicious tub of Ben & Jerry's ice cream was given to each student who donated a pint at the mammoth blood donation session at Southampton University students' union.
It is the third year that the National Blood Service and Ben & Jerry's have paired up to raise awareness in young people about the importance of giving blood - and boost vital blood supplies.
First year chemistry student, Marc Townell, 19, who gave blood, said it was a great way to encourage young people: "I have been giving blood for almost two years - it's something I've always wanted to do. I think the ice cream is a great incentive, I'll certainly be off to the local supermarket as soon as possible with my voucher."
Two further sessions will be held between 9am and 12pm and 1.30pm and 3.30pm on November 11 and 19 at The Cube, Level 2, Building 42, Highfield, Southampton.
