Fareham Nomads swimmers gave one of their best performances in the second round of the Speedo Swimming League and remain on course to regain promotion to the Premier Division.

Of the gala's 50 events, the Nomads were only out of the top three places on six occasions, winning 20 and being placed second 14 times.

The swim of the evening came from 16-year-old Nick Barber, who won the men's open freestyle in a personal best time of 53.94. He also won the men's open 100m butterfly in another personal (1.00.75).

Other double winners for the club were Jo Corben (100m IM 1.10.56 PB and 100m backstroke), Chris Walker (100m IM & 100m breaststroke 1.09.28 PB).

Event victories were also chalked up by Sam Wheeler, Hannah Langdon, Dan Crook, Peter Hall, Katie Douglas, Chris Vine and Rachel Jepson.

1 Fareham Nomads 242 points, 2 Newbury 229, 3 Eastleigh 203.5, 4 Hart 137, 6 Slough 122.5, 7 Bognor 115.

The B team didn't do quite as well, finishing fifth. Their only winner was Oliver Wright, who won the 13 and under breaststroke.
