Fareham Town overcame their horrendous injury problem to turf Cowes out of the Wessex League Cup 3-1 after extra-time.

Having had a sixth-minute Floyd Hamoudu lob cancelled out by the Islanders, Town produced a near identical finish from the same player to reclaim the lead in extra time.

They made sure of victory with what chairman Bob Ralls described as one of the goals of the season. Town won a free-kick six yards outside the area and Paul Morby sidestepped the ball for Gary Franklin to thump home.

Although Lee Webber returned in goal after flu, Fareham were without key players like Jamie Musslewhite, Lloyd Mitchell and skipper Bjay Green.

Ralls admitted: "Cowes played as well as we did for 90 minutes, but we found that little bit more in extra-time."

BAT boss Andy Leader made no excuses as a comedy of errors handed managerless Andover a 3-0 result at Southern Gardens.

A defensive error let in Justin Bennett after just one minute and the Tobaccomen conceded again at the start of the second half with a Dave Marden own goal.

To cap a dismal night, a mistake by the 'keeper let in Bennett for his second.

"At 1-0 down, I thought we would go on to win but the second goal killed us," said Leader. "We weren't good enough tonight."

Blackfield co-boss Tony Feeney gave a similar assessment of the Watersiders' 3-2 home defeat by Whitchurch.

Having twice fought back from behind through Steve Wheatland and Chris Bell, they were sunk after 75 minutes.

Feeney said: "Collectively we didn't do ourselves justice. It was a miserable night and Andy (co-manager Price) and I aren't happy."

Cliff Power (2) and Andy Hackett got the Whitchurch goals.

Hamble ASSC also waved goodbye to the competition, beaten 3-0 at home by Christchurch. Chris Henshall scored with a free header in the 38th minute and then two goals in as many minutes by Ross Edwards sealed the tie.

Lewis Till put Bournemouth in front against Moneyfields, but Gavin Jones levelled and Dean Dalton sank Bournemouth in extra-time.

Fleet Town stretched their unbeaten run to seven games with a 2-0 win at Erith & Belverdere in the DML Cup second round.

Ex-Saint Shea Saunders's cross was flicked on at the near post by Steve Whitcher for Shaun Hale to head home on 38 minutes.

The second came on the stroke of full-time when sub Eddie Smith squared for Craig Leworthy to bury.

Basingstoke Town made amends for Saturday's blunder against Billericay by slickly brushing aside Northwood 2-0 at The Camrose Ground.

Jason Bristow and new signing Oliver Berquez sealed the Ryman Premier Division points.
