A VOLUNTARY organisation is encouraging other community volunteers to apply for a grant that could help them carry out valuable work in the city.

Southampton Voluntary Services (SVS) has said that almost £100,000 worth of money was dished out to 129 good causes last year and it is easy to apply for.

Christina Evans, community and voluntary sector network development worker for SVS, said: "It is exciting that the government has made such a fund available for the community and voluntary sector in this city. I think a lot of the time people don't realise they are eligible when they are."
