BREAKFAST radio duo Rachel Brookes and Rick Jackson from Power FM are urging you to nominate your local hero.

They yesterday took time out of from broadcasting from the human zoo in Whiteley to lend their support to this year's local heroes awards.

Now in its ninth year, there are four categories in which you can nominate someone who you think deserves to take one of the prestigious titles.

They are the local hero award, the young person award, the business to community award and the special award.

As well as the traditional hero categories, pop stars and television personalities can also be nominated in the music awards section.

It is all part of the new-look awards ceremony which will be held on November 28 at St Mary's Stadium, Southampton.

Rick Jackson said: "By joining forces with the Southern Daily Echo we're giving people a further opportunity to nominate their local heroes by looking out for nomination forms in the paper."

Nominating your local hero could not be simpler.

Just fill in the form printed on page 14 of today's Daily Echo and return it to Power FM at the address at the bottom of the form. The deadline for forms to be submitted is November 7.
