Tiptoe Through the Tombstones, Memorial Hall, Hamble

With just two of the cast of ten left standing at the end of this comedy thriller, there are many twists to the convoluted plot.

A family of assassins gathers in their ancestral home to hear about their inheritance, unaware that they are potentially walking into a trap. But a trap set by whom?

Perhaps the first scene could have done with a bit of judicious pruning, but once the action got under way, the experienced Hamble Players made best use of this drama.

In particular, the opening scene of Act Two - as the body count rose - was well-paced and full of good cameos.

Patric Howe (Vernon) demonstrated an hilarious campness in his role and was given excellent support by Jan Brazier (Henrietta), Jane Masters (Athene), Mark Cook (Augustus) and Wayne Ings (Mortimer). Sarah Phipps (Fabia) provided earthiness in stark contrast to prim Judith Murphy (Zoe). A double-bluff is ably played by Paul Warne (Larry).

Add a very convincing decaying set and you have all the ingredients for a fun night out.
