Former AFC Bournemouth striker David Town staged a late smash 'n' grab raid to shoot Havant & Waterlooville up to seventh in the DML Premier Division at Westleigh Park.

Having twice clawed back from behind, the Hawks were indebted to referee Eamonn Smith for adding on nine minutes of stoppage time to set up a last-gasp 3-2 victory over Tiverton Town.

With almost the last kick of the game, Town unleashed a cracking strike from 20 yards which sent Tivvy back to Devon empty-handed after playing their part in an excellent, attacking game of football.

Hawks co-boss Mick Jenkins admitted: "Tiverton felt a bit aggrieved at the amount of time added on. They're a very good passing side who play the game the right way, but over 90 minutes we did nearly all the attacking and it was hard to believe we had to come back twice from behind.

"Winning that game will do wonders for our confidence. We're a fit, young, energetic side who are working really hard for each other."

Twice Richard Pears gave Tivvy the upper hand, but Hawks were in no mood to surrender. Ex-Saint Brett Poate's inswinging corner set up Aaron Skelton to make it 1-1 in the 54th minute and then, with Poate off injured, substitute Dean Blake's free-kick was met by a bullet header from Chukki Eribenne with ten minutes of normal time remaining.

Basingstoke Town's encouraging away form in the Ryman Premier continued with a 2-0 win at Maidenhead United.

Having had an early goal disallowed for a push, Neville Roach put the Blues ahead in the 63th minute.

Playing the ball to Alex Ewin, the former Reading striker ran on to collect the return pass and fire sweetly past Nick Hart.

With seven minutes remaining young David Ray found himself in acres of space to make victory safe for Ernie Howe's side, who have climbed to 12th ahead of tomorrow's home match against Grays Athletic (7.45).
