New Christchurch manager Pete Moore was in seventh heaven after watching his side annihilate Andover New Street 7-0 at Hurn Bridge in the first round of the Hampshire Senior Cup.

"It was a nice game to have first up and it was all the more pleasing as we lost two influential players, Ross Elliott (injury) and Jason Atkins (concussion), early on in the game," said Moore.

"There are some very useful players here at Christchurch and I've already had two seven-day notices for Paul Rideout, but he's said he is staying put and I'm hoping that all the lads will stay."

Graham Dean weighed in with a hat-trick against the Hampshire Premier Division side with Scott Joyce (2), Paul Rideout and an own goal rounding off their haul.

Christchurch's reward is another home tie in the second round against SWL rivals Fareham Town, who enjoyed a 4-1 home victory against Dorset opponents Poole Town.

Dave Rowe headed Fareham into a 34th-minute lead from Lloyd Mitchell's cross and, although Poole quickly levelled through Purkiss, the home side regained their advantage on 40 minutes through Floyd Hamodu.

Jamie Musselwhite's header made it 3-1 on the hour mark and, when Musselwhite's 75th-minute effort was only parried by the 'keeper, substitute Bobby Hanton snaffled up the rebound.

"Poole are a good team and they competed physically in the first half but there was only one team in it in the second half as maybe our superior fitness told," said Fareham boss Jon Gittens.

Brockenhurst, 1-0 victors over Bournemouth Poppies, have pulled the biggest plum in the second round draw - a mouth-watering clash at Nationwide Conference high-fliers Aldershot Town.

"It's really nice because I've been telling the players that if they put the effort in then they will get their rewards and it's now being proved," smiled manager Graham Kemp.

"When we go to Aldershot they will probably get 2,000 through the gate and we get 30 per cent of it so I'm hoping this club are going to do well financially out of the draw.

"You never know, they may rest a few players - and if we play very well ..."

Brock left it late against their SWL rivals, Steve Jenkins crossing for Tomas Fennesson to slot in an 85th-minute decider after Poppies had rattled the woodwork through Gary Clark and Richard Glenister.

Two broadsides in the last ten minutes from substitutes Vikram Singh and Sean Wayne finally secured Moneyfields a 3-1 verdict over Liss Athletic, who are unbeaten this season in the Hampshire League Premier.

It took Moneyfields an hour to open the scoring through Ashley Edwards, who rifled a blistering shot into the top corner of the net only for Liss to level ten minutes later.

Super sub Singh then smacked in a superb left-footed shot from 20 yards before James Dunk broke down the right and crossed for Wayne to net with a simple tap-in.

"Those were two inspired substitutions!" grinned Moneyfields assistant Paul Gregory.
