A NEW CCTV camera is ready to be installed in Stockbridge High Street but the installation has been delayed because there are not enough funds to cover maintenance.

Now parish council chairman David Baseley will be appealing to local companies which will benefit from this new system to help with maintenance costs.

The new CCTV system costing £4,715 will be installed on top of the Grosvenor Hotel.

It's hoped the system will help catch criminals and be used as evidence in accidents and speeding.

"The problem is the maintenance fees.

"There is an installation fee of £300 and it has to be maintained every month. It would be wrong for the parish council to pay all that," said Mr Baseley at last week's parish council meeting.

The CCTV will run 24 hours a day.
