YOUNGSTERS at a Southampton dance school gave their all for two special performances in memory of murdered student Hannah Foster.

Around 80 pupils from the Sarah Mepham Dance Academy dedicated their production of Robin Hood and Friends to the memory of tragic 17-year-old, pictured right, who was found strangled in a country lane in March.

Academy head Sarah Mepham said it was hoped a raffle held during the two performances at Bitterne Park Secondary School would raise around £100 for the Hannah Foster Fund. The fund was set up by Hannah's parents, Hilary and Trevor, to help local good causes close to their daughter's heart.

Although the couple has not yet named their chosen charity, it is thought the proceeds may go to a medical cause as Hannah had dreamed of becoming a doctor.

Sarah said she and her dancers had decided to support the fund, partly because Hannah's younger sister, Sarah, was a former pupil of the academy, which is based in the east of Southampton.

"Hannah's death touched so many people. We have our own little link through her sister so it seemed like the right thing for us to do," said Sarah, who has run the group for the past two years. We had full houses of 300 people for both shows and it went really well. It combined different types of dance, including ballet, modern jazz and some contemporary as well."

The academy has had several success stories who have gone on to dance with the Royal Ballet School and the English Youth Ballet, including Honor Willis, Anne Wilkins, Sasha John and Charlotte Dare.

Hannah, of Grosvenor Road, Portswood, was herself a graceful and talented dancer.

A murder inquiry was launched after the teenager's body was found in undergrowth in Allington Lane, West End, on March 16.

Police later confirmed their prime suspect - father-of-two Maninder Pal Singh Kohil - had disappeared to India four days after Hannah's disappearance.

The 35-year-old fugitive has become one of Britain's most wanted men, and is still thought to be in the Punjab more than four months later.

Hampshire Police has done everything possible to assist with the longed-for arrest of Kohli, even flying to Delhi to help cut through red tape. But the force has no jurisdiction in India and must leave it for the authorities there to act.
