HAMPSHIRE will have to subdue the in-form Craig White if they want to record back-to-back championship wins.

The former England all-rounder is averaging 172 in the first-class game for a Yorkshire side who have struggled for consistency this season.

In his last match White struck an unbeaten 135 as Yorkshire piled up 448 in their first innings against Durham.

But one-time Hampshire target Shoaib Ahktar took 4-38 as they were dismissed for 129 in their second innings on their way to a seven-wicket defeat - their second first-class loss to Durham in the space of just over a month.

Yorkshire had won their previous two championship appearances by ten wickets prior to that loss.

White blasted an undefeated 173 as they rattled up 444 on their way to thrashing Derbyshire at Derby.

And seamer Steve Kirby had taken 8-80 - the best championship figures of the season - clocking up match figures of 13-154 against Somerset at Taunton before that.

Opener Matt Wood compiled a career best 207 as Yorkshire struck 512 while No 8 Andy Gray, an Australian-born off-break bowler, scored a career-best 104.

Completing a yo-yo last four championship matches, Yorkshire had lost again to Durham by 167 runs after being bowled out for 97 in their second innings.
