THIS year's Beaulieu village fete takes place on Saturday on the lawns of Palace House, starting at 2pm.

The fete, held by permission of Lord Montagu, has the theme of "A Life on the Ocean Wave".

Everyone is invited to dress in costume and also enter the fancy dress competition.

Attractions include stalls, a coconut shy, barbecue, tea tent, strawberries and cream, ice cream, a bouncy castle and carousel, treasure hunt, toy stall, and more. As a memento of the day, visitors can also dress in period costume and be photographed in a veteran car.

The star prize in the grand draw is a 28-inch widescreen TV with video recorder and DVD player. Among the host of other prizes are theatre tickets, meals out, Saints football tickets, champagne, travel vouchers and a mini CD system.

There will be some colourful entertainment in the arena, including a presentation of African drum music by the children of Beaulieu School, and a line dancing display.

The Beaulieu Band will herald the start of the fete with a ceremonial march into the grounds and will continue to entertain
