Netley Marsh Scouts and Guides combined once again with St Matthew's Church, Netley Marsh, to stage their annual village fair and carnival on Saturday.

Winners in the non-group float category were Netley Marsh Infant School with their Netley Marsh Legendary Castle.

In the outside entry, walking, the winners were 1st Netley Marsh Brownies looking decidedly spooky as Macbeth's Witches.

Second were residents of Millvina Close, with their version of The Jungle Book.

In the group float category, the winners were the 2nd Netley Marsh Brownies as King Neptune, sporting very fishy tails.

In the non-group walkers category, first prize went to 1st Chestnut Beavers as St George and the Dragon.

Second were 1st Netley Marsh Rainbows, as very pretty Flower Fairies, and third were the Rufus Cubs, dressed as leprechauns to represent Traditional Irish Legend.

The village fair, held at St Matthew's Church Hall and grounds, offered plenty to see and do, including a dog agility display, Copy-thorne Band and a tent pitching competition in which the winners won a tent.

"The weather has been great and, although I don't think we've sold as many hot dogs this year, we've made up for it with the ice cream," said Group Scout Leader Ian Sims, who organised the event together with Sally Reed from the group's committee.
