CHARITY fundraisers raised around £1,500 for Romanian orphans when they took to the streets in a seven-mile bed push.
Fourteen volunteers for Hope and Homes for Children wheeled the hospital bed all the way from Micheldever to Winchester's Abbey Gardens where they were met by the Mayor.
They chose a bed push in order to symbolise all the beds in the children's orphanages in Romania.
Brian Walker, Hampshire co-ordinator for the charity, said the money raised by the event would provide beds for 15 children. "The support along the way was very good. Cars stopped and people threw money out of their windows to us. People have also been very friendly in the town."
