A PAIR of clever Fareham teenagers are celebrating success after winning a science and technology challenge day staged at Fareham College for schools across Fareham and Gosport.
Neville Lovett pupils Julie Goodhall, 14, and Erin Edwards, 14, beat off stiff competition from their classmates and dozens of other pupils in the area to clinch the title.
The day tested different areas of science and technology with challenges including building a self-righting buoy, designing a bridge, creating a buggy from a programmable motor and using a solar panel to run a model motor.
The competition was a bid to encourage youngsters to get more interested in the subjects. The winners were presented with their awards by Fareham mayor Marian Ellerton.
Julie and Erin will now go on to represent Fareham and Gosport against Havant and Portsmouth schools in the next round of the competition.
