FAME hopeful Luke Shearer from Andover is one of five finalists fighting the public vote next week to replace Maximum Bob and become Power FM's new roving reporter at the south's radio station.

The 23-year-old battled against hundreds of wannabe stars desperate to get a step into the world of radio and join Rachel Brookes and Rick Jackson on the station's breakfast show.

After whittling the finalists down to five, last weekend they appeared with Power FM at the Southampton Balloon and Flower Festival where they had to encourage radio listeners to vote for them.

"I can bring my fun personality to the show," he said. Luke has been on the search for fame since he was in a band in year eight at Harrow Way School.

He has auditioned for Pop Idol and Fame Academy, won the Stairway To The Stars competition - one of Britain's biggest talent shows - and starred in Robbie Williams' latest video Something Beautiful.

Luke said: "This was the hardest audition I have ever done because they were testing your personality."

This week each finalist had to perform a Bob-like task live on air and from today listeners will have the chance to vote for their favourite.

Each day next week the finalist with the least votes will be eliminated.

To listen to Luke's audition tune into the Power FM breakfast show this morning and all next week.
