A strong team of 32 swimmers from the City of Southampton Swimming Club returned from the Hampshire County Development Champion-ships at Waterlooville with a string of top results.

Between them they brought home 13 awards, 78 top ten placings and over 70 personal best times. For many of the swimmers this was their first major competition.

Simon Witt completing in the 14 years age group swam exceptionally well to obtain second place overall in the BAGCATS points system. Witt achieved four personal bests, three first places (50 freestyle 29.57, 50 butterfly 36.27, 100m IM 1.18.54), second in the 100 freestyle (1.06.91), third in the 200m breaststroke (3.18.81) and fourth in the 200 freestyle (2.31.37).

Sam Colmer swam well to gain second place overall in the 11 years boys' age group. Sam gained three personal bests and three first places.

Emily Weber was third overall in the girls' 12 years age group, achieving four pbs and three second places.

Lucy Smith achieved an overall fifth place in the 13 years events, with second in the 50 freestyle (32.20), third in the 100 freestyle (1.11.19).

Also in the 13 years age groups were Joanne Oliver and Winnie Magadi. Joanne was eighth overall with five pbs from six races. Winnie achieved 13th place overall, with first place in the 50 butterfly (36.55).

Lucy Whitlock was sixth overall in the girls 14 years age group.

Personal best times were 50 freestyle (34.95), 100m IM (1.25.08) and the 200 freestyle (2.34.47).

Lewis Callen swam well in the 13 years age group to gain an overall ninth place.

In the 10 years age group Alice Bassey was placed tenth, with two personal bests (50 breaststroke 46.50, 100m IM 1.32.01, 200 freestyle 3.02.61).

In the boys 12 years age group Chris Brookes was 11th overall and Daniel Morgan 13th. Chris achieved three personal bests (100m IM 1.33.15, 200 freestyle 2.46.09, 200 breaststroke 3.33.51).

Daniel swam well, gaining personal bests in all his races (50 breaststroke 46.29, 50 freestyle 35.45, 100m IM 1.32.81, 200 freestyle 3.01.23 and the 200 breaststroke 3.41.04).

Abigail Slater gained an overall 14th place in the girls' nine years with four personal bests.

Other times in the nine years age group were Olivia Thornton 50 freestyle (46.30), 100m IM (1.55.87) and 200 freestyle (3.38.07) and Mhairi Clair Stewart with 50 freestyle (45.29), 100m IM (1.52.74), 200 freestyle (3.46.55) and the 200 breaststroke (4.37.82).

In the boys 11 years age group Gregory Edwards also gained 14th place with five pbs.

Also competing in this group were James Tuck and James Long, both gaining three pbs.

Hannah Stevens, Kayleigh Meager, Chloe Tier, Rebecca Hay and Kate Williams all swam in the girls 11 years with Hannah's times all pbs.

For the girls, Nadine Whitlock 11y (50 breaststroke 52.27, 50 freestyle 37.40, 100m IM 1.34.96, 200 freestyle 2.55.71), Samantha Hurst 12y (50 breaststroke 58.65, 50 freestyle 40.88, 100m IM 1.52.84, 200 freestyle 3.24.90), Victoria Mazzara 14y (50 freestyle 37.12, 50 backstroke 43.19, 100 breaststroke 1.42.57, 100 backstroke 1.32.83, 100m IM 1.35.69, 200 freestyle 3.04.50, 200 breaststroke 3.35.98), Immaculate Magadi 15y (50 freestyle 33.26, 50 butterfly 37.67, 50 breaststroke 40.51, 100 breaststroke 1.30.74, 100m IM 1.24.56), Jeannette Taylor 15y (50 backstroke 37.92, 100 butterfly 1.25.24, 100 backstroke 1.22.24, 100m IM 1.21.58), Antoinette Magadi 16y (50 freestyle 36.75, 100 breaststroke 1.35.33) and Erin Marshall 16y (50 freestyle 35.78 and 100 butterfly 1.29.84).
