The Hampshire Colleges Altham Trophy has been shared for the first time in its history - thanks to a dramatic run out off the last ball of the Rose Bowl final which
produced a tie between holders Barton Peveril College and King Edward VI School.
The teams will share the trophy for six months each after tieing with 216-9 each off 40 overs.
KES provided the platform for the thrilling finale by posting 216-9, mainly through top order contributions from Roger Millar (63), Graham Noble (40) and Alex Richardson (39).
Paul Malone (55) and Ricky Rawlins (37) gave Barton Peveril an 89-run start, which Gavin Hart (24) and Matt Journeaux (33) subsequently improved.
At 196-3, Barton Peveril appeared to have the game in the bag, but Richardson's four-wicket spell caused panic in the ranks.
Barton Peveril, requiring three runs for victory off Tom Carter's final over, levelled the scores at 216-8 with two runs through cover off the second ball.
But Sam Walker was unable to score off the last four deliveries and was run out attempting a bye to wicketkeeper Ed Malloy off the very last ball to tie the match at 216-9 each.
Rival captains Graham Noble (left) and Barton Peveril's Ricky Rawlins are pictured with the Altham Trophy, which will be shared six months each.
